Multicultural poetry
A study of cultures and viewpoints through poetry
In this unit, year 8 pupils apply their knowledge of poetry and read, study and interpret the meanings and messages contained within poems by prominent poets such as Grace Nichols, John Agard and Benjamin Zephaniah. A real emphasis on performance poetry is placed throughout the unit and pupils experiment with accent and dialect and link it to the theme of identity.
