Curriculum Statement
Danesfield offers a full range of subjects, covered from Years 5 to 8, which promote academic, physical, creative, human, social, cultural, moral and spiritual learning. We encourage our children to give all that they can in everything that they do and help them to understand that failures only bring about learning, which leads to success. Together their talents, however small or large, are nurtured and celebrated.
Our curriculum planning and delivery aims to ensure there is progression in skills and knowledge. It builds on prior learning and makes cross-curricular links, ultimately leading to lifelong learning. Making the most of our staff expertise, specialist teachers are used to maximise the learning experience for both KS2 and KS3. We have high expectations for our children and our staff collaborate to ensure consistency in delivery across all lessons.
Enrichment at Danesfield Church of England School
At Danesfield Church of England School, enrichment is a vital part of our ethos, helping every child to thrive academically, socially, physically, and creatively. We offer a vibrant and diverse enrichment programme that supports our pupils' holistic development and nurtures individual talents and interests.
House System
All pupils are part of one of our four houses: Luttrell, Trevelyan, St Audries, and Wyndham. The house system promotes teamwork, leadership, and a strong sense of belonging. Throughout the year, children participate in a wide range of house competitions, including: Sports Days, Danesfield Fun Run, Weekly Current Affairs Quiz, Creative Writing Challenges, Cooking Competitions, Art Exhibitions, Languages and Maths Weeks, Chess Tournaments, Charity Events, visits to Croft House, and the Danesfield’s Got Talent Show.
Other activities that are not House focussed but equally important include: Drama Productions; Musical Opportunities, such as learning to play an instrument; Tutor Group Football and sports events including visits from international athletes. Student Leadership opportunities include: Prefects, Sports Leaders, Student Receptionist, School and Sports Councils.
These events foster healthy competition, creativity, collaboration, and school spirit.
Sport and Physical Activity
Physical education and sport are central to life at Danesfield, with opportunities for all pupils to enjoy a wide range of activities both in curriculum time and through clubs and teams. Sports offered include: Rugby, Hockey, Cross Country, Netball, Football, Basketball, Athletics, Rounders and Cricket. We also take pride in offering inclusive sporting events, such as Panathlon competitions, ensuring that every child can experience the joy of sport.
Outdoor Pursuits
Our location and values support a strong emphasis on outdoor learning and adventure. Pupils have access to exciting Outdoor Pursuits activities that build resilience, teamwork, and confidence, including: Surfing, Mountain Biking, Climbing, Caving, Paddle Boarding and Kayaking. These experiences form unforgettable memories and encourage a lifelong love for the outdoors.
Through our broad enrichment programme, we aim to provide every child at Danesfield with opportunities to explore new interests, challenge themselves, and develop skills that will serve them throughout life. Our Christian values underpin everything we do, inspiring children to grow as confident, compassionate, and capable individuals
