Danesfield Church of England School Living and Learning Together

Curriculum

Curriculum Statement

Danesfield offers a full range of subjects, covered from Years 5 to 8, which promote academic, physical, creative, human, social, cultural, moral and spiritual learning. We encourage our children to give all that they can in everything that they do and help them to understand that failures only bring about learning, which leads to success. Together their talents, however small or large, are nurtured and celebrated.

Our curriculum planning and delivery aims to ensure there is progression in skills and knowledge. It builds on prior learning and makes cross-curricular links, ultimately leading to lifelong learning. Making the most of our staff expertise, specialist teachers are used to maximise the learning experience for both KS2 and KS3. We have high expectations for our children and our staff collaborate to ensure consistency in delivery across all lessons.

The universal offer for all pupils has its roots in;

- Effective Questioning

- Feedback and Metacognition

- Challenge for all

- Effective Modelling

- Purposeful Practice

We ensure that learning can be accessed by utilising an adaptive teaching and learning model to maximise equal inclusion and participation.

More information can be obtained by speaking to your child's class teacher.

Danesfield Curriculum Overviews: Spring 2024

Here we have not just the outline of the topics your child will cover in the Autumn term, but how you could support them and what they could do away from school to add to their learning. This all links in to our ‘Scholarship in Learning’ approach. More information about how to support your child outside of the classroom can also be found here. The curriculums we plan at Danesfield are planned for our pupils and in context to their experiences.
