Danesfield Remote Learning - Information for pupils self-isolating due to COVID from September 2021.
Remote learning will be provided for your child whenever they are isolating because:
• they have a confirmed PCR or Lateral Flow covid test result (10 days isolation)
• your child has been sent home to isolate due to a number of close contact cases in their classes (they can return following a negative PCR result)
PUPILS MUST BE LOGGED IN TO THEIR SCHOOL GOOGLE ACCOUNT TO USE THE LINKS TO THE WORK.
IN ALL CASES
On their first day of isolation, pupils should follow the links at the bottom of this page to access the work appropriate for their year group. All of this work is in your child’s google classrooms.
Work is organised by subject and is sufficient to cover 2 weeks of lessons. Start with Isolation Work 1. The work is designed to underpin key ideas taught in school this year. Pupils can also continue reading their book, quizzing on Accelerated Reader and Hegarty Maths. Teachers will, where relevant, update the work to take account of what is happening in class at that time and will check on the work done.
IF A TEST COMES BACK NEGATIVE and the pupil can return to school, STOP doing the online work and make a note of which lessons they completed. They may have to pick up from there if they are required to isolate again.
IF A PUPIL HAS SUBSEQUENT PERIODS OF ISOLATION DUE TO ONE OF THE SITUATIONS ABOVE, EITHER:
• Continue from where they left after the previous isolation
• If they isolated for 10 days and completed Isolation work 1, move on to Isolation Work 2 then 3 in order as required.
If your child requires additional work, use the link on the right 'Additional Home Learning Resources', for suggestions of things they could do. They should also have a reading book, linked to our Accelerated Reader scheme, which they can continue with. When they finish a book they can do the associated quiz by following this link and logging in to their account as they do at school.
Children can log on to their SORA account to read many more books online.
WHAT SUPPORT WILL SCHOOL PROVIDE IF MY CHILD IS ISOLATING
If your child is required to isolate, teachers will check on the work being done and where appropriate provide other materials linked to the lessons being taught in school at that particular time.
LIVE AND PRE-RECORDED LESSONS
Some work set for individual isolations may include pre-recorded videos from resources such as Oak National Academy.
If appropriate, a teacher may contact an isolating pupil via Google Classroom and invite them to join their in-school lesson remotely via Google Meet.
In all cases, pupils isolating should log into Google Classroom every day to check for messages from teachers which may have been left.
