Gothic Horror Study
Pupils in this unit are introduced to a highly significant style of literature - The Gothic. Its effect on the world of literature is so significant that it plays a huge part in the assessment of GCSE and A-Level English. Consequently, it is important that pupils in Key Stage 3 receive an introduction to the themes and narratives associated with the genre.
Pupils study extracts from Dracula, Frankenstein as well as extracts from other texts associated with the genre. The unit of study also features a selection of non fiction texts in order to allow pupils to fully explore the notion of The Gothic, as well as strengthening analysis skills required for success at GCSE.
